Design is a process. It is about how things work. In education, it is about designing a learning experience with multiple iterations that respond to technology innovations and a student's capacity to learn. Gerardo Martinez is a coordinator of instructional technology with a background in design, active teaching and learning, and the application of design thinking. Gerardo served 9 years as a middle school math, science, and technology education teacher and 10 years as the Career Technical Education Department Chair at John Glenn High while teaching Graphic Design, Architectural 3D modeling, and Film Production. Gerardo served as the Coordinator and Director of a Film and TV Pathway as well. In addition to incorporating the latest technologies into a standards-based curriculum, Gerardo Martinez has worked as a Global Studies Technology TOSA, a Reading Intervention TOSA, and a BTSA Mentor. Gerardo taught 3 years for California Virtual Academy's online high school as well as 3 Years of Blended Learning environments in technology, design, and mathematics. Gerardo developed the Los Angeles County Office of Education's highly successful 3-year CyberCamp program for Migrant Education on the campus of USC. Gerardo has a Bachelor of Architecture Degree, a multiple and single subject credential, as well as a Master's in instructional Leadership/Admin Credential. Gerardo is also honored to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator.
